The 5W1H Of The New Baume and Mercier Classima
The new Baume and Mercier Classima have been released as four models, three for men and one for the ladies.
All three men’s versions feature a 50m water-resistant 42mm diameter and relatively slim 8.93mm thick stainless steel case with a lug-to-lug spacing of 49.5mm and interhorn spacing of 22mm.
The first two men’s versions are inspired by the colour of the nature, with the colours of khaki, sand beige and olive green ruling the canvas. These are spread across the new Baume and Mercier Classima ref. M0A10695 and the new Baume and Mercier Classima ref. M0A10696 (my pick of the overall lot).
The third men’s offering is the new Baume and Mercier Classima ref. M0A10694 with a striking burgundy dial and prominent blue flange. This is accompanied by a sort of his-and-her’s piece, the ref. M0A10691 that features a 50m water-resistant 34mm diameter and 8.15mm thick stainless steel case. Together, these two would make ideal couples watch set, something that perhaps at a wedding could be exchanged.
Best Foot Forward
The most striking feature about the new Classima models is the deployment of contrasting flanges. This not only elevates the visual appeal of the pieces but also brimmed a sense of colour-play and breaks the watch dial design, lending to it a more contemporary appearance.
Basic Specifications Of The New Baume and Mercier Classima
Inside all three of the men’s new Baume and Mercier Classima’s ticks the Sellita SW200-1 that measures 25.60mm in diameter and is 4.6mm in thickness. It features 26 jewels, beats at the frequency of 4Hz (28’800 A/h), and offers an okay 38-42 hour power reserve.
Inside the new Classima 10691 for the ladies is housed the ETA 2892-A2 automatic movement. It measures 25.6 x 3.6mm and features 21 jewels, beats at the frequency of 4Hz (28’800 A/h), and offers a 42-hour power reserve. It is a bidirectional winding movement featuring Incabloc shock absorbers and ball bearing rotor.

Our Thoughts On The New Baume and Mercier Classima
The new Classima 10696 speaks the most to my tastes with its mesmerising warm silver or pale green sun-ray dial enveloped by a dark green flange (and again with a matching strap). On it the black Roman numerals and indexes go about their time-telling business, working nicely in cahoots with the black leaf hour and minute hands. Another detail I like here is the use of a green seconds hand, one that complements both the flange and the strap.
The ref. M0A10695 takes its inspiration from the hues of a desert, with a slate sun-ray finish dial beautifully framed by a sand-coloured flange. I like how this flange colour is complemented by a matching solid canvas strap.
The new Baume and Mercier Classima models for 2022 bring in a sense of welcome fun and pizzaz to the collection. Its youthful yet matured, and should offer many enthusiasts the opportunity to kick-start their watch collection journeys.
