What Is It
After last year’s Piaget Limelight Gala High Jewellery Black Opal from Watches & Wonders 2021, Piaget is introducing the new Limelight Gala Aventurine, an ode of femininity and the wondrous world of starry nights.
Inside this limited edition of 300-piece release’s 32mm diameter 18K white gold case ticks the automatic manufacture Calibre 501P1. The 501P1 is 20.8mm diameter and 3.63mm thick, features 23 jewels, and beats at the frequency of 4Hz. It is decently finished, featuring circular Côtes de Genève, a circular-grained mainplate, bevelled bridges, and blued screws on bridges. It provides with 40-hour power reserve.
The new Piaget Limelight Gala Aventurine ref. G0A47162 was first announced on 14 February 2022 alongside the Piaget Polo Skeleton G0A47005 as a lead in to this year’s Watches & Wonders.
Who Is It For
The Piaget Limelight Gala Aventurine is a statement piece, one that is for those ladies seeking to carve their own horological path and those who are ready to leave in their wake broken hearts as others simply gawk at the midnight magic of a starry night replicated on their wrists.
The 32mm diameter 18K white gold curvy timepiece features extended and asymmetrical lugs and bezel that hug the cambered case, covered in 62 brilliant cut diamonds (~1.66 ct.) that enchantingly frame the blue aventurine glass dial. Wrapping this beauty around the wrist is the 18k white gold Milanese mesh strap with a sliding buckle.
You know you are in good hands when even the strap used on your watch is a product of meticulous care and attention to detail.
This bracelet is a refined work of art in itself. A force of 100 hours of craftsmanship by no less than eight of Piaget’s artisans is used to meticulously put together 366 spirals of gold thread that is shaped and woven for your wearing pleasure.
I also like how Piaget is invested in their watchmaking department and the Calibre 501P1 has a bit of a lineage story, being a descendent from a long line of movements. It shows commitment to continue evolving from the brand, and should install confidence in the buyers.
The Calibre 501P1 in the new Piaget Limelight Gala Aventurine is based on the calibre 501P (20.5mm x 3.6mm, 3Hz, 43-hour power reserve, 186 components, 25 jewels) that in turn in based on the calibre 530P (20.5mm x 3.5mm, 3Hz, 42-hour power reserve, 196 components, 26 jewels) which finally is based on the calibre 500P (same specs as 530P but with date, centrals seconds).
I appreciate how Piaget has put in an effort for a ladies watch, a category traditionally relegated to the back benches of the quartz movements (and just to be clear, nothing against quartz movements but featuring men’s watches with mechanical and women’s with quartz is something that’s always bothered our team at WYGDAI).
The Piaget Limelight Gala Aventurine is all about feminine curves, smouldering hot looks, an evolving thin movement, a rhythmic architecture, beauty of a starry night, and sensual seduction.
