What is It
The new MB&F LM Sequential Flyback EVO evokes the spirit of English writer Percy Bysshe Shelley’s “nothing wilts faster than laurels that have been rested upon” ideology; not content with the 2020 Legacy Machine Perpetual EVO, a limited 45-piece release featuring a zirconium case and a mono-block shock protection system called ‘FlexRing’ for outdoor use, or the 2021 LM Perpetual EVO Titanium featuring a manual winding perpetual calendar movement with a 72-hour power reserve, or 2022’s Legacy Machine Sequential EVO — a double chronograph with the ‘Twinverter’ binary switch offering unique timing modes and winning the GPHG Aiguille d’Or for Best Watch of the Year — and LM Split Escapement EVO featuring a simplified dial with three sub-dials for time, date, and power reserve, or even the 2024 LM Sequential Chronograph Flyback, the horology house that believes in making the impossible possible is back with is first 2026 launch, the new upgraded LM Sequential Flyback EVO.

Rewriting the rules of mechanical chronographs, and not resting on their laurels, the combined genius of Maximilian Büsser and Stephen McDonnell unleash the 621-component LM Sequential Flyback EVO, a double chronograph with flyback functionality on both chronographs, with practical wear 80m water-resistance, integrated rubber strap, screw-down crown, and FlexRing shock absorber, and of-course, the delightfully eccentric — and legible black on aquamarine — tilted time dial. The new LM Sequential Flyback EVO is crafted in 44 x 18.2 mm grade 5 titanium, paired with an aquamarine dial plate, with the retail price before tax being CHF 168’000 + VAT (EUR 181’000 / USD 230’000 + tax).

How Does the LM Sequential Flyback EVO Do
MB&F’s new LM Sequential Flyback EVO ought to inspire not only those collectors wishing to walk a less beaten path, but also those watchmakers who may have created a marvel in the 20th century, and are still treading over-congested waters with new uninspired rinse-and-repeats.

Simply, as Tom Peters might put it, MB&F’s laurels are much more than “tomorrow’s compost”; they are watchmaking at its quirky best, always one step ahead not only of the competition, but also of themselves.
