GTTP: The new UNDONE Terra Collection

Editor’s Note: You don’t have time to be reading the Editor’s Note – This preview of the new UNDONE Terra Collection is a GET TO THE POINT (GTTP) review with all the info you want/need to know QUICK. Now shoo – off with you. Let’s get to the point.

New UNDONE Terra Collection - The UNDONE Terra Nightfall and the Terra Daybreak

What is it: The new UNDONE Terra CollectionTerra Daybreak and Terra Nightfall

Why: Because UNDONE lacked a unisex watch in their collection.

When released: November 10 2020

Where: Online, available via UNDONE website here

Who is it for: A man (or woman – UNDONE has been clear that this is a watch is intended for both genders) who is looking for a no nonsense military style 24 hour dial watch to complete their day or night outfit.

How does it do: Fancy new cushion case shape for UNDONE! Although it is similar to their Batman: Caped Crusader and Batman: Dark Knight watch cases, the lugs are smoother and flow nicely from the case, unlike the aforementioned Batman editions which had lugs that seemingly wanted nothing to do with the rest of the case. Speaking of the case – it is customisable for your choice of steel or coated in black PVD on the Terra Daybreak, along with the usual customisable options of initials on the dial, style of the hands, image over the open case back, as well as your choice of straps from UNDONE’s vast options.

The Terra Daybreak also wins me over with the 2-coloured lume in blue and green, but the orange and green lume of the Terra Nightfall doesn’t do it for me.

Missing: Whilst I do quite like UNDONE’s black case on the Terra Nightfall (and it worked wonders on a customised UNDONE watch we reviewed earlier here), the Terra Nightfall is not my cup of tea.

On the Terra Daybreak you find a beautiful balance of colours on the face of the watch with the numbers and most of the minute track in a light grey, and the infill of the hands and hour markers at 12, 3, 6 and 9 an aged lume colour. The Terra Nightfall is also a limited edition of only 100 pieces and so is not customisable like most of UNDONE’s watches are.

Basic Specs: UNDONE’s Terra collection features the Seiko automatic winding calibre NH35A movement with a 42-hour power reserve. The 27.4mm diameter and 5.32mm thick movement comprises of 24 jewels, beats at the frequency of 3Hz (21,600 Vph), tested to +/-15 secs p/day accuracy, and offers the functions of hours, minutes and central seconds. Usually there is also a date calendar option with these movements, but Undone has opted to forgo this on this occasion.

The case has a diameter of 37mm and lug-to-lug 43.3mm, and is 316L stainless steel case with the Terra Nightfall coated in black PVD.
