What Is The Ulysse Nardin Blast Moonstruck
“Man must rise above the Earth — to the top of the atmosphere and beyond— for only thus will he fully understand the world in which he lives,” said Socrates.
The new Ulysse Nardin Blast Moonstruck is astronomy meets horology at its best; the timepiece allows the wearer to rise above the earth so to speak, and then marvel at the watchmaking skills that aide in understanding the replication of the moon’s rotation, tidal chart, and the apparent movement of the sun around the globe. Did I mention that it doubles up as a worldtimer? And yes, Ulysse Nardin Blast Moonstruck also tells the time.

Why & When
Created by Ludwig Oechslin, the new Ulysse Nardin Blast Moonstruck is released in very limited numbers and marks the brand’s and designer’s quest into space and time.
First announced in February 2022.

Where
In Sydney, both The Hardy Brothers and Kennedy’s are or used to be offical dealers. Given Both UN and GP have just gone some ownership changes, and the limited nature of this timepiece, best would be to contact the brand directly.

Who Is The Ulysse Nardin Blast Moonstruck For
For the child, astronomer or serious watch collector in you; as the former, the lure of looking into the night sky and being enchanted by what lay beyond was a very strong moment in time, and being able to have such a direct connection on your wrist is simply marvellous; I am not into astronomy but for those that are, this is a cool miniature device of epic proportions; and for the latter, what better way to add to your burgeoning watch collection that to feature a rather unique and beautiful worldtimer watch.

The Dial
The dial starts off in the centre with the northern hemisphere as seen from the North Pole. Aiding and abetting the 3D effect is the domed crystal with the land masses micro-engraved on the inside, and set inside a protective sapphire crystal box that is encircled by an 18 ct rose gold ring engraved with the 31 days of the month.

Look carefully and the child in you will see the aventurine sky with stars.

Basic Specs
The easy to understand geocentric display comes packaged inside a 45mm diameter black ceramic and black DLC-treated titanium case. It is accompanied by a black alligator, velvet, or rubber strap and black DLC titanium and pink gold folding clasp.

Inside the ref. 1063-400-2A/1A ticks the automatic winding UN-106 Manufacture caliber that beats at the frequency of 4Hz, comprises 42 jewels and 335 components, provides a 50-hour power reserve, and showboats the functions of hours, minutes, date, moon phase indication, days of lunar month, tidal coefficients, worldtimer, and dual time positions of the sun and moon around the globe.

The watch comes as a limited production and retails for 75’000 CHF / 71’300 EUR.
The new Ulysse Nardin Blast Moonstruck comes inside a box with watch winder inside to ensure the myriad complications do not need to be reset once the 50-hour power reserve runs out.
