While the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Automatic we talked about in an earlier article is all about introducing the new Polaris range and sports watches, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph in steel takes this sports element further by encouraging an undeniable link to motorsports.

First look

This 42mm chronograph is perhaps the sportiest of their new line, and is equipped with a tachymeter bezel that allows the user to determine their car speed over a fixed distance.

The watch’s pushers have been redesigned for a better grip, and the dial has better readability owing to a thin bezel.

The new oversized triangular indices further offer enhanced readability and sub-dials are very legible as well owing to the contrast of the white markers on a blue surface.

The technical specifications

The JLC Polaris Chronograph has an automatic mechanical movement — Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 751 —that allows for an enhance 65 hour power reserve (more than the 40 hours of the Polaris Automatic).

It’s also slightly bigger than the Polaris Automatic, coming in at (still daily wearable) 42mm in size.

It’s created out of stainless steel and includes the functions of hours/minutes/seconds alongside a chronograph and tachymeter scale.

It retains its water resistance of 100m.

Variations

The dials come in two colour options — black or ocean blue — with sunrayed, grained and opaline finishes.

The chronograph is also available in a rose gold version.

While the technical specifications remain the same — with the exceptions of an anthracite dial and an oscillating weight in rose gold — it adds a much more dressy look to the watch, and will appeal to the gentlemen who prefer their sports watches to be formal as well.
