What Is It
In 2015 TAG Heuer became one of the first Swiss brands to embrace the smartwatch technology. 7 years have gone by, with new advancements to both technology and watch design impressing a whole new generation of watch enthusiasts.
The Swiss brand now releases another horological ‘upgrade’ to their popular Connected series, with the new TAG Heuer Connected 2022 Calibre E4 available for both men in 45mm diameter and the ladies — or those in general with slim ~16cm wrists such as myself — in 42mm diameter.
Bold and bright with a mix of elegance and sportiness, and your horological companion on the go, this latest generation of the re-designed TAG Heuer Connected 2022 is also the perfect way to buy matching watches this Valentine’s Day (even though you would have to pre-order them for deliveries from next month).
Why & When
Retailing from 2’600 AUD (42mm) and 2’950 AUD (45mm), the two new TAG Heuer Connected 2022 were first announced yesterday on 10 February, just a few days after the third edition of the LVMH Watch Week (January 24 – 28, 2022) and also in the nick of time for Valentines Day.
These would go on sale from March 10th onwards.

Basic Specs
Inside the 45mm diameter and 13.65mm thick — the third generation case was almost identical in dimensions at 45 x 13.5 mm — ref. SBR8A10.BT6259 or the 42mm diameter ref. SBR8010.BT6255 thrives the new calibre E4.
The new New TAG Heuer Connected 2022 features a 430 mAh or 330 mAh battery depending on the diameter with a charging time of 1 hour, 30 minutes that gives enough juice to last for One day. It uses the Wear OS by Google operating system and is compatible with Android 6.0 and above (excluding Go edition) / iOS 12.0 and above. The TAG Heuer Connected 2022 comes with the pre-installed apps such as TAG Heuer Wellness, TAG Heuer Golf, and TAG Heuer Sports (Running, Cycling, Fitness, Swimming, other sports).
How Does The TAG Heuer Connected 2022 Do
TAG Heuer has been at the forefront of innovation in the Swiss luxury smartwatches market. After their Connected Modular Golf Edition of 2019 and the TAG Heuer Connected that featured a new Sports app, the brand is innovating yet again, by releasing a more sporty re-designed 45mm diameter case and a more sleek, elegant 42mm case timepiece with improved battery performance.

In terms of traditional watchmaking, I appreciate the use of elements such as watch dial faces inspired by classic TAG Heuer chronographs, an integrated case/strap design, and ergonomic pushers and crown that evoke the feeling of using a classic TAG Heuer watch. The TAG Heuer Connected 2022 also features the options of quick-release stores that makes customising it based on your outfit a breeze. I also like that for those who want a lightweight option and a different feel, there is also the titanium 45mm version, the ref. SBR8A80.BT6261 retailing for 3’650 AUD.
