The new Montblanc Star Product Line Legacy Automatic Date
The Montblanc Star Legacy Product Line Automatic Date product line makes for the latest set of watches released from the chequered Maison that is famed for revolutionising the culture of writing since 1906. And whether be their luxury and exclusive pens, or their vintage inspired watches, Montblanc is always one step ahead of the curve. The Variations
This new Montblanc Star Legacy product line is split up into two: the date only option and the day-date option (we are particularly excited about the latter given there aren’t many of those around that is featured here).
The Montblanc Star Legacy Automatic Date, reference number 126104
The heart used — calibre MB 24.17 — is an automatic winding mechanical movement beating at the frequency of 4Hz (28’800 A/h). The movement is encased inside a 43mm diameter and 11mm thick stainless steel — with polished and satin-finishing — case. It is comprised of 26 rubies, boasts of an okay 38 hours power reserve, and can be admired through a stainless steel with inset pane of sapphire crystal case-back.
The watch face shows the functions of hours, minutes, seconds, and date at 3’o clock, and is covered by a scratch-resistant, domed sapphire crystal with antireflective coating.
The dial is a beautifully understated ivory-colour with silvery-white flange and a stunning Montblanc exploding star guilloché pattern with 18 K rose gold-coated Roman numerals and 18 K rose gold-coated luminescent leaf hour and minute hands ( and blued seconds hand). The contrast of the hands with the dial colour is simply amazing and provides for great dial legibility.
Additional features we admire are the designed crown that is stainless steel with Montblanc emblem, and the posh brown strap that is made of Sfumato alligator leather crafted by the Pelletteria in Florence, Italy with stainless steel pin buckle.
Probably the only aspect we are not big fans of is the relatively low water resistance of 50m (5 ATM).

Watch Ya Gonna Do About It?
The Montblanc Star Legacy Product Line Automatic Date is presented as a beautiful looking dress watch. Given that the watches are not limited edition, they are something that Montblanc fans can check out at their leisure and figure out if they are the right ones for them.
The watch is a daily wearable watch coming in at 43x11mm, and can be paired well with jeans and t-shirts over the weekends, or worn to work on weekdays.
The Montblanc Star Legacy Automatic Date is all about harmony of contrast and offer a great deal of flexibility in use.
The anthracite-dial option with leather strap is our favourite version. They have a certain timeless elegance and understated beauty to them, and perhaps not the very young crowd but mature generations should lap these up.
