The Three New Cartier Tank Black In A Nutshell
Cartier is long known to surprise its fans with offerings that were least expected. It’s like its followers don’t know what they were missing until the brand hits them with it. Such is the case of the three new Cartier Tank Black models. After last year’s colourful and extremely popular Burgundy, Green and Blue Cartier Tank Must, and given the trend this year has been light coloured watches especially in shades of soft green, it came as a welcome surprise that the brand released all black lacquered dialled Cartier Tank Must and Cartier Tank Louis Cartier.
Two new Cartier Tank Must Black have been announced, with the difference being the case sizes of Large and Small. Both of these versions feature a quartz movement.
Then there is the all gold Cartier Tank Louis Cartier with the same black dial treatment but this time being supported by the mechanical pillars of a manual winding 1917 MC movement. It is presented as a 33.7mm x 25.5mm x 6.6mm gold watch with a water-resistant of 30m (the same dimensions as the steel Large version above).
If I am to go by last year’s pricing, then the Large steel Cartier Tank Black would retail for 4’150 AUD, and the Cartier Tank Louis Cartier somewhere south of the 20k AUD mark.
There were announced yesterday on 30 March 2022 as part of the Watches & Wonders 2022 March 30 to April 5 (both online and at the Salon) and are for those who missed out on last year’s runway Cartier Tank Must hits, and /or for those who prefer monotone wardrobes and would like an understated masterpiece on their wrists.
Our advice? If you love them, grab them before they disappear into a black hole of flipper induced mentality.
