Sneak Peek: Hublot Spirit of Big Bang Rainbow 42
The 2020 Spirit of Big Bang Rainbow 42 in satin-finished and polished 18K king gold case and set with 166 coloured gemstones (reference: 641.OX.0110.LR.0999) marks Hublot’s entry into 2020 with a bang (pun intended).
The movement — HUB4700 — used is a self-winding skeleton chronograph movement with a date window between 4 and 5’o clock and comprises of 278 components & beats at the frequency of 5Hz (36’000 A/h) allowing for a decent 50 hour power reserve.
The watch face shows the functions of hours, minutes, seconds, date and a chronograph on a matte black skeleton dial that is set with 89 coloured gemstones. The hour markers are part of the coloured gem stones look and blend in well with the watch face.(Please see our detailed review here for more info on the dial face).
The bezel is polished 18K king gold and is set with 54 baguette-cut coloured gemstones with iconic 6 H-shaped titanium screws. It blends with the case and dial face.
The case-back is satin-finished 18K king gold and sapphire crystal.
It comes on cool and unique black rubber and multi-coloured alligator straps on 18K king gold and black-plated stainless steel deployant buckle clasp.
The water resistance is a good — 100m (10 ATM) — on this one. This means you can take it to the beach with you, wear it while playing light water sports like water polo, light swimming at the beach, quick shower and while washing your hands.
Cost of these watches is a whopping: 93’700 USD.
Watch Ya Gonna Do About It?
In terms of use, we would say it a beauty of a bling watch that for people who can afford and pull it off, is a must have. It shiny and pretty. We don’t foresee this being a daily wearer but given it’s (smallish for Hublot) 42mm diameter and 14.10mm thickness, it’s a strong contender for being a highly classy dress watch and even a head turner at a formal occasion.
