New 2020 watch Montblanc Heritage Monopusher Chronograph

New 2020 watch Montblanc Heritage Monopusher Chronograph

The new 2020 watch release Montblanc Heritage Monopusher Chronograph is yet another gorgeous vintage inspired watch released this weekend.

The most striking element about this watch is that dial, that beautiful three dimensional with different surface textures salmon coloured dial.

The Montblanc Heritage Monopusher Chronograph is full of vintage vibes, perhaps the most striking being the use of subtle details. If you look closely at the minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock, you will see an indicator for 3, 6 and 9 minutes. This is representative of a vintage touch from the days when people used coin-operated telephones and needed to track the length and cost of a call. Perhaps not that practical today, but heck of a detail to add for the watch connoisseurs and collectors.

Features of the Reference 126078

The Movement

The heart used — calibre MB 25.12 — is an automatic winding mechanical movement with monopusher chronograph beating at the frequency of 4Hz (28’800 A/h).

The movement is encased inside a large 42mm diameter and 14.70mm thick polished & satin-finished stainless steel case. It comprises of 27 rubies and boasts a 48 hours power reserve. The case-back is closed with Minerva Manufacture engraving.

The Dial

The watch face shows the traditional functions of hours, minutes and small seconds at 9’o clock along with chronograph’s elapsed-second hand from the dial’s centre, and a 30-elapsed minute counter at 3’o clock. It is covered by a scratch-resistant, domed box-shaped sapphire crystal with antireflective coating.

The dial is full of interplay of colours and mixing of vintage and modern design elements.

  1. At the base is the domed salmon-coloured (very Montblanc) dial with “grainé” hour ring and sun-ray finishes
  2. Black rhodium-coated applied Arabic numerals and dots as indexes provide the contrast
  3. Black rhodium-coated luminescent bent dauphine hour & minute hands provide for great legibility
  4. Blued baton seconds hands, 30-minute chronograph counter-hands and blued bent baton 60-second central chronograph hands are a great colour burst
  5. The historical Montblanc logo at 12 o’clock oozes vintage vibes

To complete this vintage look, the watch comes on a grey Sfumato alligator-skin strap coming straight from the Richemont Pelletteria in Florence with a stainless steel triple-folding clasp.

Watch Ya Gonna Do About It?

The new 2020 watch release Montblanc Heritage Monopusher Chronograph is a stunning watch and given that fan favourite salmon colour and stainless steal material, it’s going to be a crowd pleaser. Out of all the three Heritage inspired watches released by Montblanc so far — Pulsograph Limited Edition, Monopusher Chronograph and Automatic — this one should have the most mass appeal.

The watch is not really an office wear watch being a bit too thick to fit perfectly under the cuff, but wearing this with just jeans and a t-shirt would be sublimely amazing. Given its understated classy feel, it can also double up for a more formal affair.

Given that the watches are not limited edition, they are something that Montblanc fans, or even people who love vintage watches, can check out at their own pace and see if this is the right option for them.

Again, that combination of salmon with blued hands is simply divine, and the legibility of the dial is superb.
